Who Is The Intelligent Designer?
by Jay Hall
The premise of the book is the fact that though scientists in the “Intelligent Design” or “ID” movement are doing a good work, fighting against evolution, something is still missing. The ID movement encompasses scientists who believe numerous different things, often things that evolution has brought to the table while rejecting evolution itself. Since the views in the ID movement vary significantly, I want to just say what they agree on. They agree that this universe and this world were not produced by any of the following: evolution, blind chance, natural selection, etc. They believe that because of how well crafted this world is, that there must be a designer. Mr. Hall states that the problem with the ID movement is that they fail to mention who the Designer is. A good portion of those in the ID movement are Christians but there are also Deists.
In this book, we are presented evidence in the first chapter of the truth of the Bible. The evidence is presented in an easy to read, but not a condescending manner. He presents various evidences for why the Bible is trustworthy including evidence from the Dead Sea Scrolls and archaeological discoveries.
In chapter two he goes on to show how evolution and the Bible are not compatible. How it is intellectually dishonest and a compromise that does not fit into the Christian worldview. He also shows numerous credible scientists who were Creationists and points out that science can grow without evolution.
After pointing out why we can trust the Bible and how it does not fit with evolution, he proceeds with the remainder of the book with Scripture after Scripture on various topics that related to God and the Creation. Showing that God truly is the Intelligent Designer. God has revealed to us this in His word so many times. Mr. Hall goes on to show practically all the references to God as Creator and Sustainer mentioned in the Bible.
The author has put the verses into different well organized sections. He does not quote from the KJV often so you might want to have one of those ready while reading it to compare. But this book will take you on a journey of understanding more about our God and Creator.
The last section deals with the implications of God as being our Creator/Sustainer, including dominion over the animals and ultimately what must be done about sin. God is great for who He is and the creation He made, but even though the heavens declare the glory of God, we must proclaim what He did in sending His Son to die for His creation.
I personally did not know there were that many references to God in this way in the Bible. Books today do not usually reference much scripture. Over half of this one is. This is the best way to learn about God, not by theology books, but by His word. Mr. Hall has compiled here the truths about God that God Himself revealed. If you are interested in something more than a concordance for learning about God and His work in Creation and the world around us, this is the book. If you believe what the Bible says to be true, I do not think you can finish this book and still hold to an “unknown God.”
